Privacy policy

Short version: your calculator inputs never leave your browser. There is no registration, no user account and no onward sale of data. Everything else is detailed below.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Provider
Gaea Operations GmbH
Address
Neuer Wall 10, 20354 Hamburg, Germany
Represented by
Stefan Himmelskamp
Email
legal@gaeaoperations.com

2. Principle: processing in the browser

Every calculation model on this site runs entirely in your browser. Postcode, electricity consumption, prices, building data, mileage and all other inputs are transmitted neither to our servers nor to third parties, are not logged and are not stored. Reloading the page resets every input.

There is no registration. We collect no names, no email addresses and no contact details in order to make the calculators usable.

3. Provision of the website and server log files

When this website is requested, the hosting provider we use processes automatically transmitted access data: the IP address of the requesting device, date and time of access, name and URL of the requested resource, volume of data transferred, notification of successful retrieval, browser type and version, operating system and the previously visited page (referrer).

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in delivering the website, ensuring system security and stability, and defending against abusive access. This data is not merged with other data sources and is not evaluated for marketing purposes.

Log data is deleted after 14 days at the latest, unless it is exceptionally required for longer to investigate a specific security incident.

To be completed before publication: the name and location of the hosting provider and the conclusion of a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. For a provider outside the EU/EEA, the safeguards under Art. 44 et seq. GDPR must also be stated.

4. Cookies and local storage

This website sets no tracking cookies without your consent. Only the following entries are stored technically. They reside in your browser (local storage, session storage or as a first-party cookie) and are not transmitted to us.

amperecalc-locale (cookie)
Your language and country choice, so a request without a locale prefix redirects correctly. Lifetime: 12 months.
amperecalc:theme (local storage)
Your choice between light and dark appearance. Kept until you delete it.
amperecalc:consent (local storage)
Your decision on advertising and analytics cookies, with a timestamp, as a record of consent.
amperecalc:interstitial-seen (session storage)
Marker so the ad before the first calculator appears only once per session. Cleared when the browser closes.

5. Consent and withdrawal

For all storage that is not strictly necessary we obtain your consent through a consent banner. The legal basis for storing and reading information on your device is § 25 (1) TDDDG, and for the subsequent processing of personal data Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Strictly necessary storage is covered by § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG.

You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal remains unaffected. To withdraw, delete the "amperecalc:consent" entry in your browser's site settings; the consent banner will then appear again.

6. Advertising (Google AdSense)

This website is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

The advertising code is loaded only if you have accepted the “marketing” category in the consent banner. Without your consent the script is not added to the page at all; Google then neither accesses your device nor receives your data. The calculators work in full either way.

Once you have consented, Google stores and reads information on your device (in particular cookies and comparable identifiers) and processes your IP address, browser and device details, the page you are viewing and your interaction with ads. The purpose is to deliver and measure advertising, to cap how often an ad is shown, and to detect fraud and invalid clicks.

The legal basis for storing and reading information on your device is § 25 (1) TDDDG; for the subsequent processing of personal data it is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Google acts as an independent controller in this respect; obtaining your consent is our responsibility.

Transfers to Google LLC in the United States cannot be ruled out. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so an adequacy decision of the European Commission under Art. 45 GDPR applies; standard contractual clauses under Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR are in place in addition.

For details of Google's processing see policies.google.com/privacy and policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also switch off personalised advertising at myadcenter.google.com.

Ads are always labelled as such and have no influence on calculation results or editorial content.

Withdrawing consent takes effect for the future only. Advertising code that has already loaded cannot be recalled. To remove cookies that have already been set, please also use your browser's site settings.

7. Reach measurement

If you consent, we record in aggregated and anonymised form which calculators are opened. There is no cross-device linking, no recognition of individuals and no profiling.

To be completed before activation: the analytics tool used, its retention period and the data processing agreement. No analytics service is currently integrated.

8. Contacting us

If you write to us by email, we process your details solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, or Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for contract-related enquiries. We delete the data once the enquiry has been dealt with conclusively and no statutory retention periods apply.

9. Recipients and third-country transfers

Your data is passed to third parties only where necessary to provide the website (hosting) or where you have consented (advertising, reach measurement). We conclude agreements under Art. 28 GDPR with processors. Transfers to third countries take place only on the basis of an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards under Art. 46 GDPR.

10. Your rights

You have the following rights in relation to us:

  • Access to the data processed about you (Art. 15 GDPR).
  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR).
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR).
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR).
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR).
  • Withdrawal of consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR).
  • Complaint to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

11. Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing of personal data concerning you carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Where your data is processed for direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time without giving reasons.

12. Competent supervisory authority

The authority competent for the controller is the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Ludwig-Erhard-Strasse 22, 20459 Hamburg, Germany. Independently of this, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your place of residence.

13. Data protection officer

A data protection officer must be appointed where the statutory conditions of Art. 37 GDPR or § 38 BDSG are met — in particular where at least 20 people are constantly engaged in the automated processing of personal data.

To be checked before publication: whether an appointment is required. If so, the name and contact details of the data protection officer must be stated here.

14. Changes to this policy

We update this privacy policy whenever changes to our processing or to the legal position require it. The version available on this page applies.
